Fólkvangr: A Mix for Lecräesa

Hey peeps! It seems when I get bored and I just ahead and make music mixes. This is my second one for WD [Writersdomain] and her novels of Lecraesa. The first is here: Here Be Dragons. Had a butt-load of fun making this, hope you like it WD, anyways, this is for you. All the songs are mp3 formatted and the zip is through sendspace; to download the zip, on the sendspace link page scroll down to the bottom where the link is. If there are any problems shout out and I’ll do my best to fix ‘em. Oh, and I am using box.net for the single links, trying it out and see if it is easier to use. Tell me what you think.

Enjoy!

Fólkvangr: A Mix for Lecräesa

This is themed a little darker than Here Be Dragons. Fólkvangr is Freyja’s hall where she receives half the dead lost in battle. Freyja is a goddess in Norse mythology.

The quote above the tracklist is from the game Odin Sphere: “Raise that sword and the shadows draw closer spreading the stench of death. But tenderness may exist in those inhabiting in darkness while distress envelops those who would oppose it”.

I made two different covers for this chose the one you like best.

[Full Zip]

1. Prologue by Bear McCreary [link]

[Instrumental]

2. Cinder and Smoke by Iron & Wine [link]

Cinder and smoke

Some whispers around the trees

The juniper bends

As if you were listening

At first, I wanted another Iron & Wine song here, but it hasn’t been released yet, so I hunted for this one, I love the way this song sounds, how dark and moody it is.

3. Cold Cold Water by Mirah [link]

I left the only home I knew

I stayed alive and I found you.

I adore this song so much. Creiha song. Maybe an allusion to her relationship with Marcus.

4. Soulshine by Allman Brothers [link]

I grew up thinkin that I had it made,

Gonna make it on my own.

Life can take the strongest man,

Make him feel so alone.

For Strick, definitely for Strick.

5. Treehouse by I’m from Barcelona [link]

I've been climbing rocks and stones

been collecting broken bones

6. You Were On My Mind by Crispian St. Peters [link]

Oh, I got troubles, oho

I got worries, oho

I got wounds to bind

7. Some Days Are Better Than Others by U2 [link]

Some days you hear a voice

Taking you to another place

Some days are better than others

8. Behind Blue Eyes by the Who [link]

But my dreams

They aren't as empty

As my conscience seems to be

For evil kings. You know who you are, Hedj.

9. Flathead by The Fratellis [link]

She's the second best killer that I ever have seen.

For Captain Sophie.

10. A Dark Congregation by The Hush Sound [link]

A dark congregation

Of familiar faces

Gathered around the quiet earth

11. Remember When It Rained by Josh Groban [link]

Remember when it rained. In the darkness I remain.

Yeah, I love Josh Groban, no question about it.

12. You Are What You Love by Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins [link]

we live in a house of mirrors

We see our fears in everything

13. Made Up Love Song #43 by Guillemots [link]

i love you through sparks and shining dragons, i do,

and the symmetry in your northern grin

Song for the couples of Lecraesa, namely [very spoliery get-together-ers].

14. Nightingale by Laura Veirs [link]

Nightingale come

And perch upon my tree

A terrifying light's

Been flashing over me

15. Reasons Why by Nickel Creek [link]

I'm calling this home when it's not even close

Playing the role with nerves left exposed

16. Bad Moon Rising by Rasputina [link]

I see a bad moon rising,

I see trouble on the way,

I see earthquakes and lightnin'

I see bad times today

This is a cover of one of my favorite CCR songs. I love how dark this cover is.

17. Whistles the Wind by Flogging Molly [link]

Oh you'll find your way out, but there's no going now

Every woman and child drags you down for the good

It's not safe being free, can't give back what you feel

You said you'll always be in heaven with me

Strick to Lusien, Lusien to Strick. Basically their song.

18. Never Let Go by Josh Groban ft. Deep Forest [link]

Turn your head up to the sky, nothing down below.

Don't let go.

19. Nightmare by Nox Arcana [link]

[Instrumental]

20. The Parting Glass by The Wailin' Jennys [link]

But since it falls unto my lot

That I should rise and you should not

I'll gently rise and I'll softly call

Good night and joy be with you all

I adore this version of the song. So pretty.

21. Remember by Josh Groban [link]

Remember, I will still be here

As long as you hold me, in your memory.

22. Gymnopédie no. 1 (Lent et douloureux) by Erik Satie [link]

[Instrumental]

SQUEE!

This one started because I couldn't get the fabulous Josh Groban and how some of his songs connected with Lecraesa out of my head and thought why not.

I love I'm from Barcelona.

Ah, such yummy music- I'm From Barcelona? Possibly the best in existance, ever. ^_^

In any event, another very good mix. It definitely suits my interpretation of Lecraesa, even if it's not my novel...a good thing, to connect with the readers, as well?

*dances about* Grand!

Your welcome, hon.

I was reading over Chapter 4 and I realized how much 09. Flathead by The Fratellis is from Gietan's POV about Sophie.

:D

I love it, Cal! *huggles* Danke schon schon schon! I especially love the Josh Groban ones. *dances in excitement* And I adore the darker mood, as morbid as that may seem. ^_^ You truly are amazing.
